Discover the Editor's Choice: From each issue of the leading journal Water Science & Technology the core team of editors select one outstanding paper to share across IWA Publishing platforms.

IWA Publishing is pleased to announce that the 33rd Editor's Choice Paper, chosen by Leiv Rieger is now Open Access:

Start- up of a full-scale partial nitritation-anammox MBBR without inoculum at Klagshamn WWTP

Ivelina Dimitrova, Agnieszka Dabrowska and Sara Ekström

Why was this paper selected for Editor's Choice?

The authors provide a very thorough description of the start-up of an partial nitritation-anammox (PNA) moving bed bioreactor. I especially liked the short but excellent literature overview and the concise methods section. The key findings are presented and discussed in the same brief style but with a sufficient level of detail and context. I would have appreciated a more extensive data set in the supplementary material, but I am sure the authors will be happy to provide that to interested readers.

Leiv Rieger, Editor.
