Discover the Editor's Choice: From each issue of the leading journal, Water Science & Technology the core team of editors will select one outstanding paper to make Open Access and share across IWA Publishing platforms.

IWA Publishing is pleased to announce that the 15th Editor's Choice paper, selected by Jo Burgess is now Open Access:

Modelling gas–liquid mass transfer in wastewater treatment: when current knowledge needs to encounter engineering practice and vice versa

Why was this paper selected as Editor's Choice?

This article is a prime example of why knowledge, even when it has become so established that it's been in the textbooks for decades, should be reviewed. Gas–liquid mass transfer coefficients and factors underpin almost every water and wastewater treatment process, and yet how well we understand them and apply them in practice is still worthy of investigation. The authors asked and answered a crucial question: do the current models accurately represent actual mass transfer?

Jo Burgess, Editor.
