Evaluation of pathogen risks using QMRA to explore wastewater reuse options: A case study from New Delhi in India

Rajashree Hajare, Pawan Labhasetwar, Pranav Nagarnaik

https://doi.org/10.2166/wst.2020.583

Why was this paper chosen?

Globally, reuse of non-potable from treated wastewater is a highly important topic. Risk-based assessments, as well as a multi-barrier approach have been proposed by WHO to guarantee safe reuse. Studies from developing and emerging nations where there is a high demand for water reuse and that apply these WHO approaches are scarce. The paper "Evaluation of pathogen risks using QMRA to explore wastewater reuse options: A case study from New Delhi in India"  that I have chosen as the Editor Choice for this issue presents such a study of high relevance in terms of the subject itself but also in terms of the relevance of water reuse for the Indian sub-continent.

Guenter Langergraber, Editor.
