Discover the Editor's Choice: From each issue of the leading journal Water Science & Technology the core team of editors select one outstanding paper to make Open Access and share across IWA Publishing platforms.

IWA Publishing is pleased to announce that the 25th Editor's Choice Paper, chosen by Professor Guoren Xu, is now Open Access:

"Batch studies of phosphonate adsorption on granular ferric hydroxides"

T. Reinhardt, M. Gómez Elordi, R. Minke, H. Schönberger and E. Rott

Why was this paper selected for Editor's Choice?

The scarcity of phosphorus has been given more and more attention in recent years. It is an important research topic as it is looking for both a method and materials which can quickly absorb phosphorus and aid in its recovery which will then avoid discharging phosphorus into sewage or the environment. The authors used the new phosphonate adsorption material and carried out five adsorption–desorption cycles. The results show that the authors' research works in using the phosphorus adsorption material and that the cycle methods is useful in recycling phosphorus.

Professor Guoren Xu, Editor.
