Why was this paper selected as the Editor's Choice?
This paper presents a case study applying innovative digital tools to support the operation of urban water systems. It shows the transition from using numerical models in an off-line setup, the classic usage, to applying these models on-line for supporting daily operation. The benefits are nicely described in three very practical examples ranging from a better understanding of infiltration to detecting illegal dischargers and improved operation of pumping stations. In my opinion, this is the way to go!
